Then David mustered the men who were with him, and set over them commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds.


Then he said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Because you have let the man go whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall be for his life, and your people for his people.’ ”


Then the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck down Aram until you had made an end of it, but now you will strike down Aram only three times.”


As soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses' anger burned hot, and he threw the tablets from his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.


And Aaron said, “Do not let the anger of my lord burn hot; you know the people, that they are bent on evil.


Then Moses made inquiry about the goat of the sin offering, and—it had already been burned! He was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's remaining sons, and said,


Now the man Moses was very humble, more so than anyone else on the face of the earth.


Moses, Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the congregation went to meet them outside the camp.


Moses said to them, “Have you allowed all the women to live?


Then the officers who were over the thousands of the army, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, approached Moses,


Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,


and he will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots.
