I have been like a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge.


He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.


See, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.


Now listen, Joshua, high priest, you and your colleagues who sit before you! For they are an omen of things to come: I am going to bring my servant the Branch.


But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he did not answer.


But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.


Pilate asked him again, “Have you no answer? See how many charges they bring against you.”


He questioned him at some length, but Jesus gave him no answer.


He entered his headquarters again and asked Jesus, “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer.


For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, as though sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to mortals.
