So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all the sick, those who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, and paralytics, and he cured them.


When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.


[Now after he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.


A great number of the people followed him, and among them were women who were beating their breasts and wailing for him.


But all his acquaintances, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.


The women who had come with him from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid.


Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion”; for many demons had entered him.


And that is what the soldiers did. Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.


All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer, together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as his brothers.
