The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.’
Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the human heart is fully set to do evil.
For no one can anticipate the time of disaster. Like fish taken in a cruel net, and like birds caught in a snare, so mortals are snared at a time of calamity, when it suddenly falls upon them.
I and all the people who are with me will approach the city. When they come out against us, as before, we shall flee from them.
