Then the servant ran to meet her and said, “Please let me sip a little water from your jar.”


I am standing here by the spring of water; let the young woman who comes out to draw, to whom I shall say, “Please give me a little water from your jar to drink,”


So he set out and went to Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the town, a widow was there gathering sticks; he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, so that I may drink.”


and whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple—truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”


After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.”


Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”


Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired out by his journey, was sitting by the well. It was about noon.


(His disciples had gone to the city to buy food.)
