Then Moses turned again to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why have you mistreated this people? Why did you ever send me?


For this time I will send all my plagues upon you yourself, and upon your officials, and upon your people, so that you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth.


who say to the seers, “Do not see”; and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions,


For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David.’ ”


Why, O Lord, do you make us stray from your ways and harden our heart, so that we do not fear you? Turn back for the sake of your servants, for the sake of the tribes that are your heritage.


Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy.”


They keep saying to those who despise the word of the Lord, “It shall be well with you”; and to all who stubbornly follow their own stubborn hearts, they say, “No calamity shall come upon you.”


Ah Lord God! It is you who made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.


Your ways and your doings have brought this upon you. This is your doom; how bitter it is! It has reached your very heart.”


They have spoken falsely of the Lord, and have said, “He will do nothing. No evil will come upon us, and we shall not see sword or famine.”


They have treated the wound of my people carelessly, saying, “Peace, peace,” when there is no peace.

Now, while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell down on my face, cried with a loud voice, and said, “Ah Lord God! will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel?”


Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the degrading of their bodies among themselves,


For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural,


And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done.
