Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law,


because you are especially familiar with all the customs and controversies of the Jews; therefore I beg of you to listen to me patiently.


But if anyone is disposed to be contentious—we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God.
