The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the words of the prophets with one accord are favorable to the king; let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably.”


Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred of them, and said to them, “Shall I go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?” They said, “Go up; for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”


Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land’?


the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule as the prophets direct; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes?


O that I had in the desert a traveler's lodging place, that I might leave my people and go away from them! For they are all adulterers, a band of traitors.


You have plowed wickedness, you have reaped injustice, you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your power and in the multitude of your warriors,


Ephraim has surrounded me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; but Judah still walks with God, and is faithful to the Holy One.


Swearing, lying, and murder, and stealing and adultery break out; bloodshed follows bloodshed.


Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was determined to go after vanity.


On the day of our king the officials became sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with mockers.


For you have kept the statutes of Omri and all the works of the house of Ahab, and you have followed their counsels. Therefore I will make you a desolation, and your inhabitants an object of hissing; so you shall bear the scorn of my people.


Their hands are skilled to do evil; the official and the judge ask for a bribe, and the powerful dictate what they desire; thus they pervert justice.


They know God's decree, that those who practice such things deserve to die—yet they not only do them but even applaud others who practice them.


They are from the world; therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them.
