But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
When Isaac was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called his elder son Esau and said to him, “My son”; and he answered, “Here I am.”
So he went in to his father, and said, “My father”; and he said, “Here I am; who are you, my son?”
Jacob came safely to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, on his way from Paddan-aram; and he camped before the city.
Now his brothers went to pasture their father's flock near Shechem.
“See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son; perhaps they will respect him.’
But Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son.” He said, “Here I am.”
The Lord called Samuel again, a third time. And he got up and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.
