Jacob loved Rachel; so he said, “I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.”


So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.


They utter lies to each other; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.


Then I said, “How long, O Lord?” And he said: “Until cities lie waste without inhabitant, and houses without people, and the land is utterly desolate;


And I said: “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”


Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease.
