This happened in the days of Ahasuerus, the same Ahasuerus who ruled over one hundred twenty-seven provinces from India to Ethiopia.


Prepare the nations for war against her, the kings of the Medes, with their governors and deputies, and every land under their dominion.


As for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to support and strengthen him.


Then King Nebuchadnezzar sent for the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the justices, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces to assemble and come to the dedication of the statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up.


And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.


and over them three presidents, including Daniel; to these the satraps gave account, so that the king might suffer no loss.


In the first year of Darius son of Ahasuerus, by birth a Mede, who became king over the realm of the Chaldeans—


or of governors, as sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to praise those who do right.
