Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.


And now you have gone away because you longed greatly for your father’s house, but why did you steal my gods?”


Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father’s house,


Then Moses let his father-in-law depart, and he went away to his own country.


“What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’


And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went.


“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.


From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.


These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.


By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.


And the descendants of the Kenite, Moses’ father-in-law, went up with the people of Judah from the city of palms into the wilderness of Judah, which lies in the Negeb near Arad, and they went and settled with the people.
