The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen?


And Ahab went into his house vexed and sullen because of what Naboth the Jezreelite had said to him, for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed and turned away his face and would eat no food.


Beware lest wrath entice you into scoffing, and let not the greatness of the ransom turn you aside.


But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.


Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.”


Jonah went out of the city and sat to the east of the city and made a booth for himself there. He sat under it in the shade, till he should see what would become of the city.


But God said to Jonah, “Do you do well to be angry for the plant?” And he said, “Yes, I do well to be angry, angry enough to die.”


“O my people, what have I done to you? How have I wearied you? Answer me!


“Let Aaron be gathered to his people, for he shall not enter the land that I have given to the people of Israel, because you rebelled against my command at the waters of Meribah.


Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?’
