Now at the feast, the governor was accustomed to release to the crowd one prisoner whom they wished.


Therefore when they had assembled, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you wish that I should release to you, Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"


And there was one called Barabbas, having been bound with his fellow rebels, who had committed murder in the rebellion.


And he released whom they were requesting, who because of insurrection and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will.


Then they all cried out again, saying, "Not this Man, but Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a bandit.


But you denied the Holy and Just One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,


who, having known the righteous judgment of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also approve of those who practice them.
