saying, "Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is he that struck You?"


And spitting on Him, they took the reed and were striking Him on His head.


But I say to you not to resist an evil person. But whoever shall slap you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.


and they will mock Him, and scourge Him, and spit on Him, and kill Him. And on the third day He will rise again."


Then some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, and to beat Him with their fists, and to say to Him, "Prophesy!" And the attendants were striking Him with slaps to the face.


And they were striking His head with a reed and were spitting on Him; and bowing the knee, they mockingly worshipped Him.


And when He had said these things, one of the attendants who stood by slapped Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Is this how You answer the high priest?"


And they kept saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they were striking Him with their hands.


being defamed, we encourage; we have become as the sweepings of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.


looking unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
