In those days John the Baptist arrived preaching in the wilderness of Judea,
And King Herod heard, for His name became well known. And he said, "John the Baptizer has been raised from the dead, and for this reason the miracles are at work in him."
Others said, "He is Elijah." But others said, "He is a prophet, like one of the prophets."
And it came to pass, while He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He questioned them, saying, "Who do the crowds pronounce Me to be?"
He said to them, "But who do you pronounce Me to be?" Peter answered and said, "The Christ of God."
And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No."
And they asked him, saying, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"
Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, "Truly this is the Prophet."
They said to the blind man again, "What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?" He said, "He is a prophet."
