And whoever shall exalt himself will be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself will be exalted.


He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.


He has overthrown the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly.


Then He also said to him who invited Him, "When you give a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.


I say to you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted."


Let the lowly brother rejoice in his exaltation,


Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.


But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."


Likewise, younger people, subject yourselves to the elders. And all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility, because "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."


Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
