Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds, and without a parable He did not speak to them,
Jesus said to them, "Have you understood all these things?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord."
And apart from a parable He did not speak to them, however, privately to His disciples, he would explain all things.
"These things I have spoken to you in figures of speech; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.
His disciples said to Him, "See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech!
Therefore the Jews were contending with one another, saying, "How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?"
Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, "This is a hard saying; who can hear it?"
What is this thing which He said, 'You will seek Me and you will not find Me, and where I am you cannot come'?"
Why do you not understand what I say? Because you are unable to hear My word.
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
But it has happened to them according to the saying of the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "A sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire."
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true; and we are in Him that is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
