Then this saying went out among the brothers that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?"


And in those days Peter, rising up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), said,


"Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us in every time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,


And they said, "Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and fearing God, having a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was given a revelation by a holy angel to send for you to his house, and to hear words from you."


Writing by their hand these things: The apostles, the elders, and the brothers, to the brothers in Antioch, and Syria, and Cilicia who are of the Gentiles: Greetings.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.


And Ananias, a certain devout man according to the law, being testified of by all the Jews dwelling in Damascus,


where having found brothers, we were urged by them to stay for seven days; and so we came to Rome.


Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, "It is not pleasing to us that we should forsake the word of God to serve tables.


And the word was pleasing before all the congregation, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,


whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.


But the brothers, learning about it, brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.


For to one is given a word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another a word of knowledge according to the same Spirit,


But when I arrive, those whom ever you approve by letters, these I will send to carry your gracious gift to Jerusalem.


And do not get drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,


being witnessed by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.


Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.


Demetrius has a good testimony with everyone, and of the truth itself. And we also testify, and you know that our testimony is true.
