He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord,' saying:
And having crucified Him, they divided His clothes among themselves, casting lots.
For David himself said by the Holy Spirit: 'The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet." '
Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me."
Men, brothers; it was necessary for this Scripture to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;
concerning His Son, who came of the seed of David according to the flesh,
And again, Isaiah says: "There shall be the root of Jesse; and He that shall rise to rule over the Gentiles, in Him the Gentiles shall hope."
Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel,
God, who in various ways and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you will hear His voice,
again He appoints a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a time, just as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts."
Thus God, wanting to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His counsel, guaranteed it by an oath,
for they have become priests without an oath, but He with an oath by Him that said to Him: "The LORD has sworn and will not relent, 'You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek' ",
for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being brought along by the Holy Spirit.
These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, and elect, and faithful."
And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name having been written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
