And Herod, seeking for him and not finding him, examining the guards, and commanded that they be executed. And going down from Judea to Caesarea, he was spending time there.
And becoming awake, the prison keeper, seeing the doors of the prison open, drawing a sword, he was about to kill himself, supposing the prisoners to have escaped.
Now there arose during that time a serious disturbance concerning the Way.
