But it was the will of the Lord to crush him with infirmity. If he lays down his life because of sin, he will see offspring with long lives, and the will of the Lord will be directed by his hand.


LAMED. O all you who pass by the way, attend, and see if there is any sorrow like my sorrow. For he has made me a vintage, just as the Lord has spoken in the day of his furious anger.


And when he had risen up from prayer and had gone to his disciples, he found them sleeping out of sorrow.


Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say? Father, save me from this hour? But it is for this reason that I came to this hour.


He who did not spare even his own Son, but handed him over for the sake of us all, how could he not also, with him, have given us all things?


It is Christ who, in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offered prayers and supplications to the One who was able to save him from death, and who was heard because of his reverence.
