Now Amnon had a friend named Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, the brother of David: a very prudent man.

But Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother, responding, said: "My lord the king should not consider that all the sons of the king have been slain. Amnon alone is dead. For he was set against by the mouth of Absalom from the day that he raped his sister Tamar.

And he blasphemed Israel. So Jonathan, the son of Shimei, the brother of David, struck him down.

Now Jesse conceived the firstborn Eliab, the second Abinadab, the third Shammah,

Now when Eliab, his eldest brother, had heard this, as he was speaking with the others, he became angry against David, and he said: "Why did you come here? And why did you leave behind those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the wickedness of your heart, that you have come down so that you might see the battle."
