“But gin we say, ‘Frae men,’ we are fleyʼt oʼ the people; for they aʼ haud John as a Prophet.”


And whan they heard, they ferlied uncolie; and leaʼin him, gaed their gate.


And the Heid‐priests and the Scribes heard; and coonsellʼt hoo they micht destroy him: for they war fleyʼt oʼ him, for aʼ the folk war astonishʼt at his teachin.
