Psalms 130 - Metrical Psalms in Braid Scots 1928 (T.T. Alexander)

psalm CXXX

Lord, frae the mirky haughs o’ dool

My cry to Thee has gae’n; Jehovah, hear; and lat Thine ear Be heedfu’ o’ my maen.

Gin Thou, O Lord, oor fauts sood mark, Wha could to Thee draw near?

But aye wi’ Thee sal mercy be, Tho’ men haud Thee in fear.

My saul abides its tryst wi’ God, His word I lippen on;

My saul’s mair fain for God, than ane That wearies for the dawn.

Atweel, I weary mair than a’ That lang for dawn o’ day; Lat Isra‐el trust God Himsel’, For He sal mercy hae.

And wi’ the Lord nae lack there is O’ poo’er to save and sain; Frae a’ the sin that he has dune, He Israel sal hain.
