then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them. I will cast this house, which I have made holy for my name, out of my sight. Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.


They said to me, “The remnant that remains from the exile there in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.”


But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite servant, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they ridiculed us and despised us, and said, “What is this thing that y’all are doing? Are y’all rebelling against the king?”


You make us a source of contention to our neighbors. Our enemies laugh among themselves.


All who pass by the way rob ʜɪᴍ. Hᴇ has become a reproach to ʜɪꜱ neighbors.


Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel an insult.”


I will even give them up to be tossed back and forth among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I will drive them.


Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, with its kings and its officials, to make them a desolation, an horror, a hissing, and a curse, as it is today;


For YHWH Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘As my anger and my wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my wrath will be poured out on y’all when y’all enter into Egypt. Y’all will become an object of horror and astonishment, a curse and a reproach. And y’all will never see this place again.’


“We are ashamed because we have heard reproach. Disgrace covers our faces, because strangers have come into the sanctuaries of the house of YHWH.”


All her people sigh. as they seek bread. They have given their pleasant things for food to refresh their soul. “Look, YHWH, and see, for I have become despised.”


Remember, YHWH, what has come on us. Look, and see our reproach.


Those who are near and those who are far from you will mock you, you infamous one, full of tumult.


You will know that I, YHWH, have heard all your insults which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, ‘They have been laid desolate. They have been given to us to devour.’


“I won’t allow you hear the mocking of the nations any more. You won’t bear the reproach of the peoples any more, and you won’t cause your nation to stumble any more,” says Lord YHWH.’”


therefore prophesy, and say, ‘Lord YHWH says: “Because they have made y’all desolate and crushed y’all on every side, so that y’all would become a possession of the rest of the nations, and y’all have been taken up in the talk and whispers of the people,”


Lord, according to all your righteousness, please let your anger and your wrath be turned away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain; because for our sins and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a reproach to all who are around us.


I will remove those who grieve about the appointed feasts from you. They are a burden and a reproach to you.


It will come to pass that, as y’all were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save y’all, and y’all will be a blessing. So y’all must not be afraid! Instead let y’all’s hands be strong.”


You will become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples where YHWH will lead you away.
