The king went up to the house of YHWH, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him—with the priests, the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of YHWH.


The letter which y’all sent to us has been plainly read before me.


All the people went their way to eat, to drink, to send portions, and to celebrate, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.


Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law; and the people stayed in their place.


Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to them all, “This day is holy to YHWH y’all’s God. Y’all must not mourn nor weep.” For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.


They stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of YHWH their God a fourth part of the day; and a fourth part they confessed and worshiped YHWH their God.


The prince is to go in with them when they go in. When they leave, he will leave.


YHWH answered me, “Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that a runner may read it.


And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things written about himself in all the Scriptures.


They said to one another, “Weren’t our hearts burning within us while he was speaking to us along the way, and while he was opening the Scriptures to us?”


Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.


After appointing a day for him, they came to his lodging in even larger numbers. He explained to them from morning until evening, testifying about the Empire of God, working to persuade them about Jesus from the law of Moses and the prophets.
