I will come on him while he is weary and exhausted, and will make him afraid. All the people who are with him will flee. I will strike the king only,


Judah said, “The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading and there is much rubble, so that we are not able to build the wall.”


Then the Jews who lived near them came and told us ten times over, “Wherever y’all turn, they will attack us.”


But we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night because of them.


They conspire and lurk, watching my steps. They are eager to take my life.


Therefore disaster will come on you. You won’t know when it dawns. Mischief will fall on you. You won’t be able to put it away. Desolation will come on you suddenly, which you don’t understand.


When morning came, some of the Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath, saying that they would not eat or drink until they had killed Paul.


Don’t be persuaded by them, because more than forty men are waiting to ambush him. They have bound themselves by an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, waiting for your consent.”


For y’all know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
