David said to Abishai, “Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. Take your lord’s servants and pursue after him, lest he get himself fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.”


I was mute with silence. I held my peace, even from good. My sorrow was stirred.


They also gave me poison for my food. In my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.


“Sit in silence, and go into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans. For you will no longer be called the mistress of kingdoms.


We acknowledge, YHWH, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our ancestors. We have sinned against you.


Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, YHWH; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.


Therefore YHWH Almighty says concerning the prophets: “Surely, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”


Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us. For we have sinned against YHWH our God, we and our ancestors, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed YHWH our God’s voice.”


But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, we said, ‘Y’all come! Let’s go to Jerusalem to get away from the Chaldean and Aramean army. So we have dwelt in Jerusalem.’”


but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart and after the Baals, which their ancestors taught them.”


Therefore YHWH Almighty, the God of Israel, says, “See, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink.


Remember my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the bitterness.


Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what YHWH spoke of, saying, ‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron held his peace.


“When a man’s relative carries him, even he who burns him, to bring bodies out of the house, and asks him who is in the innermost parts of the house, ‘Is there yet any with you?’ And he says, ‘No;’ then he will say, ‘Hush! Indeed we must not mention the name of YHWH.’


But YHWH is in ʜɪꜱ holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before ʜɪᴍ!”


Be silent, all flesh, before YHWH; for ʜᴇ has roused himself from ʜɪꜱ holy habitation!”


They gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall, but after tasting it, he would not drink it.


Beware that there is no man, woman, family, or tribe among y’all whose heart turns away today from YHWH our God, to go and serve the gods of those nations. And beware that there is no root among y’all that produces bitter poison.


For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, of the fields of Gomorrah. Their grapes are poison grapes. Their clusters are bitter.
