“Come down and sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, daughter of the Chaldeans. For you will no longer be called tender and delicate.

“Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod. Kill and utterly destroy after them,” says YHWH, “and do according to all that I have commanded you.


I have laid a snare for you, and you are also taken, Babylon, and you weren’t aware. You are found, and also caught, because you have fought against YHWH.


“Y’all call together the archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. Y’all are to encamp against her all around. Let none of it escape. Y’all must pay her back according to her work. According to all that she has done, do to her, for she has been proud against YHWH, against the Holy One of Israel.


YHWH Almighty says: “The children of Israel and the children of Judah are oppressed together. All who took them captive hold them fast. They refuse to let them go.


For look! I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country. They will set themselves in array against her. She will be taken from there. Their arrows will be like a skilled warrior. None of them will return in vain.


Though Babylon should mount up to the sky, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet destroyers will come to her from me,” says YHWH.


Jeremiah wrote in a scroll all the disasters that would come on Babylon, all these words which have been written concerning Babylon.


But it was plucked up in fury. It was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong branches were broken off and withered. The fire consumed them.


Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind will come, the breath of YHWH coming up from the wilderness; and his spring will become dry, and his fountain will be dried up. He will plunder the storehouse of treasure.


Does the trumpet alarm sound in a city, without the people being afraid? Does evil happen to a city, and YHWH hasn’t done it?


For YHWH Almighty says: ‘For honor ʜᴇ has sent me against the nations that plundered y’all; for whoever touches y’all touches the apple of ʜɪꜱ eye.


He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
