They will be dismayed. Pangs and sorrows will seize them. They will be in pain like a woman in labor. They will look in amazement one at another. Their faces will be faces of flame.


Therefore my thighs are filled with anguish. Pains have seized me, like the pains of a woman in labor. I am in so much pain that I can’t hear. I am so dismayed that I can’t see.


Y’all should ask and consider: Can a male be in childbirth? Then why do I see every strong man with his hands on his stomach, like a woman in childbirth? Why have all their faces turned pale?


For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who gives birth to her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, “Woe is me now! For my soul faints before the murderers.”


“It will happen at that day,” says YHWH, “that the heart of the king will perish, along with the heart of the princes. The priests will be astonished, and the prophets will wonder.”


on Kerioth, on Bozrah, and on all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.


Look, an eagle will soar upward, swoop down, and spread its wings against Bozrah. In that day, the heart of the warriors of Edom will be like a the heart of a woman in labor.


Damascus has grown feeble, she turns herself to flee, and trembling has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken hold of her, as of a woman in travail.


A sword is on their horses, on their chariots, and on all the mixed people who are in the middle of her; and they will become as women. A sword is on her treasures, and they will be robbed.


The king of Babylon has heard the news of them, and his hands become feeble. Anguish has taken hold of him, pains as of a woman in labor.


The warriors of Babylon have stopped fighting, they remain in their strongholds. Their might has failed. They have become like women. Her dwelling places are set on fire. Her bars are broken.


We have heard its report. Our hands become feeble. Anguish has taken hold of us, and pains as of a woman in labor.


but I will send a fire on Moab, and it will devour the palaces of Kerioth; and Moab will die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet;


While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, like birth pains on a pregnant woman, and then there will be no escape.
