A rich person may be ransomed for their life, but the poor person hears no threats.


I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, YHWH, who calls you by your name, even the God of Israel.


Now the cistern in which Ishmael threw all the dead bodies of the men whom he had killed along with Gedaliah was the one that Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel. Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with those who were killed.


For what does it benefit a human if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what can a human give in exchange for their soul?


Therefore I tell y’all, don’t be anxious for your* life: what y’all will eat, or what y’all will drink; or about your* body, what y’all will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
