Will God hear their cry when trouble comes on them?


Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,


The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to YHWH, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.


The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!


He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.


‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you haven’t seen it? Why have we humbled our soul, and you don’t notice?’ “Look, on the day when y’all fast, y’all find pleasure, and oppress all y’all’s laborers.


Therefore YHWH says, ‘Look, I will bring evil on them which they will not be able to escape, and they will cry to me, but I will not listen to them.


“Therefore, you must not pray for this people. Don’t lift up a cry or a prayer for them, because I will not listen to them when they cry to me because of their evil.


Then YHWH said to me, “Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind would not turn toward this people. Cast them out of my sight, and let them go out!


“They will die grievous deaths. They will not be lamented, neither will they be buried. They will be like dung on the surface of the ground. They will be consumed by the sword and by famine. Their dead bodies will be food for the birds of the sky and for the animals of the earth.”


I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both human and animal. They will die of a great pestilence.


I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them, until they are consumed from off the land that I gave to them and to their fathers.’”


“See how siege ramps have been built against the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Look, you see it!


To what purpose does frankincense from Sheba come to me, and the sweet cane from a far country? Y’all’s burnt offerings are not acceptable, and y’all’s sacrifices are not pleasing to me.”


“‘I will utterly consume them, says YHWH. No grapes will be on the vine, no figs on the fig tree, and the leaf will fade. The things that I have given them will pass away from them.’”


I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their ancestors have known. I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.”


“Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my wrath on it in blood, to cut off from it man and animal—


For Lord YHWH says: “How much more when I send my four severe judgments on Jerusalem—the sword, the famine, the evil animals, and the pestilence—to cut off from it man and animal!


Therefore I will also deal in wrath. My eye won’t spare, neither will I have pity. Though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, yet I will not hear them.”


They will go with their flocks and with their herds to seek YHWH, but they won’t find him. He has withdrawn himself from them.


I hate and despise y’all’s feasts, and I take no pleasure from smell of y’all’s solemn assemblies.


Then they will cry to YHWH, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time, because they made their deeds evil.”


It has come to pass that, as he called and they refused to listen, so they will call and I will not listen,” said YHWH Almighty;


“Oh that there were one of y’all who would shut the temple doors, so that y’all would not uselessly kindle fire on my altar! I am not pleased with y’all,” says YHWH Almighty, “nor will I accept an offering from your* hand.


“Another thing y’all do: y’all cover the altar of YHWH with tears, weeping and groaning because ʜᴇ no longer regards the offering or receives it favorably from your* hand.


I looked—and there was a pale horse! The one who sat on it was Death, and Hades was following behind him. They were given authority over one fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by death, and by the wild animals of the earth.
