Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans’ pride, will be like when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.


that you will take up this parable against the king of Babylon, and say, “How the oppressor has ended! How fury has ceased!”


The idols will pass away completely.


When he sees a troop, horsemen in pairs, a troop of donkeys, a troop of camels, he must listen carefully with great attentiveness.”


“Sit in silence, and go into darkness, daughter of the Chaldeans. For you will no longer be called the mistress of kingdoms.


But these two things will come to you in a moment in one day: the loss of children and widowhood. They will come on you in their full measure, in the multitude of your sorceries, and the great abundance of your enchantments.


“All y’all must assemble and listen! Who among them has declared these things? He whom YHWH loves will do what he likes to Babylon, and his arm will be against the Chaldeans.


“Y’all call together the archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. Y’all are to encamp against her all around. Let none of it escape. Y’all must pay her back according to her work. According to all that she has done, do to her, for she has been proud against YHWH, against the Holy One of Israel.


A drought is on her waters, and they will be dried up; for it is a land of engraved images, and they are mad over idols.


They take up bow and spear. They are cruel, and have no mercy. Their voice roars like the sea. They ride on horses, everyone set in array, as a man to the battle, against you, daughter of Babylon.


For look! I will stir up and cause to come up against Babylon a company of great nations from the north country. They will set themselves in array against her. She will be taken from there. Their arrows will be like a skilled warrior. None of them will return in vain.


“Y’all are to lift up a signal flag in the land! Y’all must blow the trumpet among the nations! Y’all are to set apart the nations against her! Y’all must summon the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz against her! Y’all must appoint a marshal against her! Y’all must send the horses like the swarming locusts!


I will execute judgment on Bel in Babylon, and I will bring out of his mouth what he has swallowed up. The nations will no longer stream to him. Yes, the wall of Babylon will fall.


For the days come when I will execute judgment on the engraved images of Babylon; and her whole land will be confounded. All her slain will fall in the middle of her.


“But look! The days are coming,” says YHWH, “when I will execute judgment on her engraved images, and through all her land the wounded will groan.


Then you are to say, ‘So will Babylon sink, and it will not rise again because of the disaster that I will bring on her. And they will grow weary.’” Thus far are the words of Jeremiah.


Babylon has suddenly fallen and been destroyed! Y’all wail over her! Y’all get balm for her pain. Perhaps she may be healed.


Another, a second angel, followed, saying, “Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great, she who made all the ethnic groups drink the wine of her immoral sexual passion.”


He cried with a mighty sound, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean bird and detestable beast!


A strong angel picked up a stone like a massive millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, “The great city of Babylon, will be thrown down with this kind of violence, and will never be found again.
