11 The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish. The counsel of the wisest counselors of Pharaoh has become stupid. How can y’all say to Pharaoh, “I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?”

Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east and all the wisdom of Egypt.


So Hiram gave Solomon cedar timber and cypress timber according to all his desire.


Hᴇ leads counselors away stripped. Hᴇ makes judges into fools.


YHWH brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. Hᴇ makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.


I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.


Hᴇ did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.


how ʜᴇ set ʜɪꜱ signs in Egypt, ʜɪꜱ wonders in the field of Zoan.


A senseless man doesn’t know, neither does a fool understand this:


They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.


The frogs will come up both on you, and on your people, and on all your servants.”’”


“Surely I am the most ignorant person, and don’t have human understanding.


The princes of Zoan have become fools. The princes of Memphis are deceived. They have caused Egypt to go astray, those who are the cornerstone of her tribes.


The spirit of the Egyptians will fail within them. I will destroy their counsel. They will seek the idols, the charmers, those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards.

For their princes are at Zoan, and their ambassadors have come to Hanes.

Everyone has become brutish and without knowledge. Every goldsmith is shamed by his idol; for his molten image is deceitful, and there is no breath in them.

The wise men are disappointed. They are dismayed and trapped. Look, they have rejected the word of YHWH. What kind of wisdom is in them?


Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty. You have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I have cast you to the ground. I have laid you before kings, that they may see you.


I will make Pathros desolate, and will set a fire in Zoan, and will execute judgments on No.


Mischief will come on mischief, and rumor will be on rumor. They will seek a vision of the prophet; but the law will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.

“Won’t I in that day”, says YHWH, “destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau?


They went up by the South, and came to Hebron; and Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were there. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)


Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was powerful in his speech and action.
