22 Reuben said to them, “Y’all must not shed any blood. Y’all throw him into this pit that is in the wilderness, but lay no hand on him”—that he might deliver him out of their hand, to restore him to his father.

He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”


Reuben heard it, and delivered him out of their hand, and said, “Let’s not take his life.”


When Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the ornate tunic that was on him;


Reuben answered them, saying, “Didn’t I tell y’all, saying, ‘Don’t sin against the boy’? But y’all wouldn’t listen. Now we must account for his blood!”


He didn’t lay his hand on the nobles of the children of Israel. They saw God, and ate and drank.


Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah urged the king not to burn the scroll, but he would not listen to them.


So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but that instead a disturbance was starting, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. Y’all take care of it.”


Around this time, King Herod laid his hands on some in the church in order to oppress them,


Instead, you must execute-execute him. Your hand is to be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hands of all the people.
