In that day YHWH made a covenant with Abram, saying, “I have given this land to your offspring, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:


The name of the third river is Hiddekel. It flows in front of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.


Jacob deceived Laban the Syrian, in that he didn’t tell him that he was running away.


Laban was told on the third day that Jacob had fled.


He took his relatives with him, and pursued him on a journey of seven days. He overtook him in the mountain of Gilead.


They sat down to eat bread, and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites was coming from Gilead, with their camels bearing spices and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.


Jacob sent Judah before him to Joseph, to show the way before him to Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen.


then they came to Gilead and to the land of Tahtim Hodshi; and they came to Dan Jaan and around to Sidon,


Elijah the Tishbite, who was one of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As YHWH, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there will not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”


Then Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath, and took it; and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.

When Balaam saw that it pleased YHWH to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.


Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of livestock. They saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead. They saw that the it was a place for livestock.

The people, the princes of Gilead, said to one another, “Who is the man who will begin to fight against the sons of Ammon? He will become head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
