The Angel of YHWH said to her, “Look, you are with child, and will bear a son. You are to name him Ishmael, because YHWH has heard your affliction.


I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know.”


God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called to Hagar out of the sky, and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Don’t be afraid. For God has heard the voice of the boy where he is.


Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she named him Reuben. For she said, “Because YHWH has looked at my affliction; for now my husband will love me.”


He said, ‘Now lift up your eyes and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled, and grizzled, for I have seen all that Laban does to you.


Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”


You will save the afflicted people, but your eyes are on the arrogant, that you may bring them down.


Jehoahaz begged YHWH, and YHWH listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.


“Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘YHWH, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Look, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the house of YHWH.


“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red Sea,


Nevertheless ʜᴇ regarded their distress, when ʜᴇ heard their cry.


The words of YHWH are flawless words, like silver refined in a crucible, purified seven times.


When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, you knew my route. On the path in which I walk, they have hidden a snare for me.


Hᴇ will fulfill the desire of those who fear ʜɪᴍ. Hᴇ also will hear their cry, and will save them.


For ʜᴇ has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, neither has ʜᴇ hidden ʜɪꜱ face from him; but when he cried to ʜɪᴍ, ʜᴇ heard.


I sought YHWH, and ʜᴇ answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.


This poor man cried, and YHWH heard him, and saved him from all his troubles.


You have seen it, YHWH. Don’t keep silent. Lord, don’t be far from me.


that I may declare all of your praise, at the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice in your salvation.


Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses.


Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who didn’t know Joseph.


If you take advantage-advantage of them, and they cry-cry to me, I will hear-hear their cry,


Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me your way, now, that I may know you, so that I may find favor in your sight; and consider that this nation is your people.”


The slave drivers of the people went out with their officers, and they spoke to the people, saying, “This is what Pharaoh says: ‘I will not give y’all straw.


The same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,


In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old.


When we cried to YHWH, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Now look, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.


I have surely seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their groaning, and I have come down to deliver them. Now come, I will send you back to Egypt.’


For we don’t have a high priest who can’t empathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way like we are, yet was without sin.


“Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you are to anoint him to be prince over my people Israel. He will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines. I have looked on my people, for their cry has come to me.”
