Deuteronomy 9:5 - Y'all Version Bible

5 Not because of your righteousness or because of the uprightness of your heart will you go in to possess their land. Instead it is because of the wickedness of these nations that YHWH your God drive them out from before you, and so that ʜᴇ might establish the word which YHWH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

YHWH appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your offspring.” So he built an altar there to YHWH, who had appeared to him.


for I will give all the land which you see to you and to your offspring forever.


In the fourth generation they will come here again, for the iniquity of the Amorite is not yet full.”


Then he said to Abram, “I am YHWH who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give you this land to inherit it.”


I will give to you, and to your offspring after you, the land where you are traveling, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession. I will be their God.”


When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the middle of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot lived.


I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed,


YHWH stood above it, and said, “I am YHWH, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. I will give the land you lie on to you and to your offspring.


You must remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply y’all’s descendants as the stars of the sky, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to y’all’s descendants, and they will inherit it forever.’”


But I worked for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.


“Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘Lord YHWH says: “I am not doing this for y’all’s sake, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which y’all have profaned among the nations where y’all have gone.


I am not doing this for y’all’s sake,” says Lord YHWH. “Let this be known to y’all. Be ashamed and embarrassed for your* ways, house of Israel.”


“‘Y’all must not defile yourselves* in any of these things, because the nations I am driving out before y’all were defiled by all these things.


The land was defiled, so I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out her inhabitants.


You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.


Y’all are the children of the prophets and of the covenant God made with our ancestors, saying to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all the peoples of the earth will be blessed .’


Regarding the gospel, they are enemies for y’all’s sake. But regarding election, they are beloved for the sake of the patriarchs,


Now I say that Christ has been made a deacon of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers,


Look, I have set the land before y’all. Y’all must go in and possess the land which YHWH swore to y’all’s ancestors—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob—to give to them and to their descendants after them.’”


You must not do so to YHWH your God, because every abomination to YHWH, which ʜᴇ hates, they have done to their gods. They even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.


For whoever does these things is an abomination to YHWH. Because of these abominations, YHWH your God drives them out from before you.


When you have come into the land which YHWH your God gives you, you must not learn to imitate the abominations of those nations.


so they won’t teach y’all to follow all their detestable ways, which they do for their gods, causing y’all sin against YHWH y’all’s God.


ʜᴇ saved us—not by righteous works that we have done, but according to ʜɪꜱ mercy—through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
