For y’all are to pass over the Jordan to go in take possession of the land that YHWH your* God is giving y’all, and y’all are to possess it and live in it.


When you have come in to the land that YHWH your God is giving you for an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it,


Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, “Keep all the commandments which I command y’all today.


You are to write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over, so that you may enter into the land that YHWH your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as YHWH, the God of your fathers, has promised you.


When y’all have crossed over the Jordan, y’all are to set up these stones, as I command y’all today, on Mount Ebal, and you are to coat them with plaster.


Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the ordinances, which YHWH your* God commanded me to teach y’all, so that y’all would do them in the land that y’all go over to possess,


Listen, Israel! You are to pass over the Jordan today to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than yourself, great cities fortified up to the sky,


“Y’all go through the middle of the camp, and command the people, saying, ‘Y’all prepare provisions. In three days, y’all are to pass over the Jordan and go in to possess the land which YHWH y’all’s God is giving y’all to possess.’”


When all the nation had completely crossed over the Jordan, YHWH spoke to Joshua, saying,


Then Joshua built an altar to YHWH, the God of Israel, on Mount Ebal,


as Moses the servant of YHWH commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses: an altar of uncut stones, on which no one had lifted up any iron. They offered burnt offerings on it to YHWH and sacrificed peace offerings.


He wrote there on the stones a copy of Moses’ law, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
