When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”


Ahab said to Elijah, “Have you found me, my enemy?” He answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in YHWH’s sight.


The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of YHWH, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”


As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”


but they mocked the messengers of God, despised ʜɪꜱ words, and scoffed at ʜɪꜱ prophets, until YHWH’s wrath arose against ʜɪꜱ people, until there was no remedy.


A scoffer doesn’t love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.


who cause a person to be indicted by a word, and lay a snare for one who reproves in the gate, and who deprive the innocent of justice with false testimony.


Yes, truth is lacking; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. YHWH saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.


Now when Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, a eunuch, who was in the king’s house, heard that they had put Jeremiah in the cistern (the king was then sitting in Benjamin’s gate),


“Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; for your people are like those who bring charges against a priest.


and the priest is to examine him. If he sees that there is a white swelling in the skin, and it has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling,


Y’all are to hate evil and love good, and y’all must establish justice in the courts. It may be that YHWH, the God of Armies, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.”


If y’all were of the world, the world would love its own. But because y’all are not of the world, since I chose y’all out of the world, the world hates y’all.


For everyone who does evil hates the light and doesn’t come into the light, so that their deeds won’t be exposed.


The world can’t hate y’all, but it hates me, because I testify that its works are evil.


Have I now become y’all’s enemy by telling y’all the truth?


The earth dwellers will rejoice over them, and they will be glad. They will give gifts to one another, because the two prophets tortured the earth dwellers.
