Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that y’all have put me in prison?


My God has sent his angel, and has shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not hurt me, because innocence was found in me before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.”


Paul, looking straight at the council and said, “Brothers, I have lived all my life before God with good conscience to this day.”


They did not find me arguing with anyone or stirring up a crowd in the temple or the synagogues, or anywhere in the city.


But this I admit to you that, according to the Way which they call a sect, I serve the God of our ancestors, believing everything in accordance with the Law and what is written in the prophets.


He even tried to profane the temple, and we arrested him.


But Paul said, “I am standing at Caesar’s tribunal, where I should be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as you yourself know very well.


After three days had passed, Paul called together the leaders of the Jews. When they had assembled, he said to them, “Brothers, although I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our ancestors, I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.


Then they said to him, “We haven’t received any letters about you from Judea, nor have any of the sibling come to report or say anything bad about you.


Now this is our boast: the testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward y’all, with godly integrity and sincerity, not by fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God.
