At evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look at.


After this, Amnon the son of David fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of Absalom the son of David.


Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and reared up for himself the pillar which is in the king’s valley, for he said, “I have no son to keep my name in memory.” He called the pillar after his own name. It is called Absalom’s monument, to this day.


“I will rise up against them,” says YHWH Almighty. “I will cut off from Babylon her name and remnant, her offspring and descendants,” says YHWH.


YHWH says, “Y’all must record this man as if childless, a man who will not prosper in his days, for none of his descendants will prosper, sitting on David’s throne and ruling in Judah.”
