For today he has gone down, and has slaughtered cattle, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Look! They are eating and drinking before him, and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’


Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet are to anoint him there king over Israel. Y’all blow the trumpet, and say, ‘Long live King Solomon!’


Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet, and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!”


Then he brought out the king’s son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the covenant, and they made him king. They anointed him and clapped their hands, and said, “Long live the king!”


She looked and there was the king stood by the pillar, as the tradition was, with the captains and the trumpets by the king. All the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and cried, “Treason! Treason!”


They said, “That is a lie. Tell us now.” He said, “He said to me, ‘YHWH says: I have anointed you king over Israel.’”


With trumpets and sound of the ram’s horn, y’all make a joyful noise before the King, YHWH.


As he was going along, they spread their garments on the road.
