In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. He laid its foundation with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of YHWH, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.


Wasn’t it told my lord what I did when Jezebel killed YHWH’s prophets, how I hid one hundred men of YHWH’s prophets with fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?


As Obadiah was on the way, suddenly, Elijah met him. He recognized him, and fell on his face, and said, “Is it you, my lord Elijah?”


They came back to him while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell y’all not to go?”


He said, “Y’all bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.


When they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.


No one will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will fulfill the number of your days.


YHWH said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood. There will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”


Give them—YHWH what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.


Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, please don’t count this sin against us which we have done foolishly, and in which we have sinned.


YHWH will grant you abundant prosperity in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which YHWH swore to your ancestors to give you.


Elders who manage effectively should be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in preaching and teaching.


The city and all that is in it, is to be devoted to YHWH. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in the house may live, because she hid the messengers that we sent.


Joshua commanded them with an oath at that time, saying, “Cursed is the man before YHWH who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up its gates.”
