David lived in the stronghold, and called it David’s city. David built around from Millo and inward.


Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha struck him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel were besieging Gibbethon.


In the morning, he went out and stood and said to all the people, “Y’all are innocent. Look, I conspired against my master and killed him, but who killed all these?


In the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria for seventeen years.


In the second year of Joash, son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.


They made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.


As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,


Shallum the son of Jabesh conspired against him, and struck him before the people and killed him, and reigned in his place.


So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram and all Israel had been defending Ramoth Gilead, because of Hazael king of Syria,


But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled up the road to Beth Haggan. Jehu followed after him and said, “Y’all shoot him too!” So they shot him while he was in the chariot on the way up to Gur, near Ibleam. He fled to Megiddo, and died there.


When they had departed from him (for they left him seriously wounded), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and killed him on his bed, and he died. They buried him in David’s city, but they didn’t bury him in the tombs of the kings.
