Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel, and four hundred fifty of the prophets of Baal, and four hundred of the prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”


Then Elijah said to the people, “I, even I only, am left as a prophet of YHWH; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred fifty men.


Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal, y’all! Don’t let one of them escape!” They seized them, and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slaughtered them there.


They abandoned all the commandments of YHWH their God, and made molten images for themselves, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served Baal.


He did that which was evil in YHWH’s sight, but not like his father and like his mother, for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made.


Will y’all speak unrighteously for God, and talk deceitfully for him?


Why not say, as some slanderously report that we affirm, “Let’s do evil, that good may come?” Those who say so are justly condemned.


Finally, siblings, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is virtuous or praiseworthy, y’all should contemplate such things.
