2 We have renounced disgraceful ways (secret thoughts, feelings, desires and underhandedness, the methods and arts that men hide through shame); we refuse to deal craftily (to practice trickery and cunning) or to adulterate or handle dishonestly the Word of God, but we state the truth openly (clearly and candidly). And so we commend ourselves in the sight and presence of God to every man's conscience.

He said, “Y’all are to do it a again.” And they did it the second time. Then he said, “Y’all do it a third time.” And they did it the third time.


For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek.


So at that time, what benefit did y’all gain from the things that you* are now ashamed of? Because the outcome of those things is death.


Therefore y’all judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each person will receive praise from God.


Now this is our boast: the testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward y’all, with godly integrity and sincerity, not by fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God.


But I fear that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, so y’all’s minds might be corrupted from sincere and pure devotion to Christ.


But though I am untrained in speech, I am not so in knowledge. Indeed, in every way we made this clear to y’all in all things.


For we are not like so many who peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, we speak with sincerity in Christ, as those from God and before God.


Therefore, since we know the fear of the Lord, we work to persuade humans. What we are is known openly to God, and I hope we are also known openly in y’all’s consciences.


through glory and dishonor, through defamation and good report, regarded as deceivers and yet true,


For if I boasted to him about y’all, I was not disappointed. But just as everything we said to y’all is true, so our boasting about y’all to Titus has proved to be true.


that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of humans, in craftiness in deceitful scheming.


For it is shameful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
