The disciples decided to send help to the siblings living in Judea, each according to their means.


This became a major argument and debate between them and Paul and Barnabas. So Paul, Barnabas, and some others of them were appointed to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.


Barnabas wanted to take John (also called Mark) with them too,


For I determined not to know anything among y’all except Jesus Christ and him crucified.


So what do y’all want? Should I come to y’all with a rod or in love and a spirit of gentleness?


For even though I am absent in body, I am present in spirit, and have already, as though I were present, judged the one who did this.


I invoke God as a witness to my soul, that it was to spare y’all that I didn’t come to Corinth.


This is the reason I am writing these things while absent: so that I won’t have to be severe when present, according to the authority the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.


For I wrote to y’all in tears with great oppression and anguish of heart, not to grieve y’all, but that y’all would know the abundant love I have so for y’all.


When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, make every effort to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have determined to winter there.
