David’s anger burned hot against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As YHWH lives, the man who has done this deserves to die!


For today he has gone down, and has slaughtered cattle, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has called all the king’s sons, the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Look! They are eating and drinking before him, and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’


He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, and they followed Adonijah and helped him.


The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army, and the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.


Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! Listen, Laishah! You poor Anathoth!


The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.
